A bunch of people took offense to my post saying America is not our geography or GDP, and if you import enough people from outside America with vastly different cultures, it would no longer be America. If you have a very large bottle of wine filled 1/8 of the way up and start pouring water into it, at what point is it no longer wine? You’re not removing any wine, but you’ll be increasingly adding another liquid. At what point does it become something else entirely? When it is wine flavored water? When is it water with a hint of wine? The label on the bottle still clearly says it’s wine.

If you flood the country with people from dramatically different cultures that hold wildly different beliefs, it will become a different country. If you filled the country with massive amounts of Japanese people, our culture and country would morph into something similar to Japan, if you did it with Indians, it would become similar to India and if you filled it with Somalis, it would resemble Somalia. If you moved everyone from San Francisco into a remotely normal city, it would turn into San Francisco.

This is not a controversial statement. A country is its people. The landscape, the terrain, and the law are all essentially second order to the population. I fail to understand how anyone can disagree with that. It is not abnormal in any way, shape, or form to want to continue living how you have been. Unless you believe a nation is simply just a random land mass, of course.
